Week in My Life 2013 – Monday

computer time 2

I’m joining Melissa at Adventuroo for the Week In My Life Challenge 2013.  See Melissa’s Week in My Life intro post if you want to join in the fun.

This won’t be a typical week, of course – on account of there being no such thing.

ankle cast

We began the day driving my husband to the fracture clinic where his broken ankle was X-rayed and he was fitted with a walking cast. He can go back to work tomorrow – hurray! {Love you, darling ;-)}

At 10 AM my homeschooling mum friend Gaynor came round to give C(9) her creative writing tutorial while I did maths (Life of Fred) with J(8). Afterwards C(9) and J(8) played with Gaynor’s kids while she and I chatted over a coffee.

National youth film festival

It’s the National Youth Film Festival this week so this afternoon I took all the kids  to see Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters for free at our local cinema. A school group that was meant to be going cancelled at the last minute, so apart from one other home-educating family, we had the cinema to ourselves!

After the cinema, C(9) and I took the dogs to the park. I walked while C(9) sat in trees and sang Bugsy Malone songs (she’s playing Fat Sam in her Stagecoach show this term).

Karate collecting

And now, at 8:30 PM, I’m cuddling up on the sofa with the dogs {read: trying to stop them licking my laptop} after collecting C(9) from karate.

  1. This sounds like fun. I’ll see whether I can get my act together to post before heading to bed. Looks like you’ve had a good day today. The dogs are getting on really well, aren’t they? I’ll stay tuned for tomorrow’s post. 🙂

  2. That’s what I like homeschool for, to have a cinema to yourselves! I will never forget when my son and me had… Farther Christmas in his Grotto all to ourselves in Kew Gardens last year… )) We had an unforgettable friendly chat!

    1. We do get some great perks, don’t we, Elena? Father Christmas to yourselves sounds brilliant 😀
Another one is getting to go in the VIP boxes at the Royal Albert Hall at the Primary Proms!

  3. Looks like you’ve had a busy start to your week! I love the idea of this link-up, it’s so fabulous to have a play by play of what other people’s days are like!

    1. It was, Nichole! And even the fracture appointment was good news considering my poor husband has been hobbling around on crutches for the last 10 days!

  4. Sounds like a nice start to the week (aside from the whole broken leg thing). I did a double take when I saw that photo of you in the driver’s seat…on the opposite side ;)…until I read that you are across the pond. I’m visiting from Adventuroo…it’s so neat to read how everyone’s Mondays are different in some ways and similar in others.

    1. I think we were reading each other’s posts at the exact same time, Jess! You’re right, it’s so interesting to see the similarities and differences, isn’t it? I thought that when I saw your son’s picture on the car window 🙂
I should point out that I wasn’t actually driving when my daughter took that picture 😉

    1. It’s so funny, we’re used to driving on the “wrong side” of the road and driving cars with the steering wheel on the “wrong” side when we travel abroad, but it must seem very strange when you’re not used to it!
Thank you so much for hosting the link-up, Melissa!
